Taiwan stands out with two forums selected from thousands of proposals at BIO 2024
Highlights at US #BIO2024

At BIO 2024, Taiwan stands out with two forums selected from thousands of proposals. One forum, organized by the Taiwan Bio Industry Organization (#TBIO) and hosted by Wallace Lin, focuses on cell and gene therapy (#CGT) regulations. Key speakers include Maggie Ho from Amarex Taiwan and Joseph Damond from Crowell & Moring International (CMI).

Maggie Ho discussed innovative clinical trial designs for CGT, highlighting the importance of safety considerations and early inclusion of potential risks in trial planning. She emphasized the need for digital transformation, understanding regulatory differences, and balancing innovation and risk in regenerative therapies.

Joseph Damond pointed out the rapid growth of CGT, with a 15.9% annual growth rate. He noted that despite the progress, challenges remain in regulatory frameworks, ethical concerns, high treatment costs, and the complexity of securing patents for CGT products.
