The #iPSCellRevolution signifies the revolutionary discovery of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells) by Dr. Shinya Yamanaka (山中伸弥) in 2006. Since then, scientists worldwide have been working hard to explore the potential of iPS cells to transform the field of medicine. In Taiwan and beyond, scientists are dedicated to bridging the gap between basic #biology and medical applications in the iPS cell research field.
The clinical applications of iPS cells offer extensive possibilities, ranging from research tools, drug discovery, toxicity screening, personalized medicine, disease modeling, stem cell banking, tissue engineering, to 3D bioprinting. However, the translation of iPS cells from basic research to precision medicine is still challenging and requires a lot of effort.
On March 11th (Monday), Stanford University from the US, Kaohsiung Medical University, and Academia Sinica, Taiwan will jointly host the 2024 #StanfordTaiwan Symposium on #iPSC and #RegenerativeMedicine. The event aims to bring together scientists from the US and Taiwan to bridge the gap between basic research and precision medicine. Let's make the "wild horse" of iPS cells and transform it into the “biomedical Pegasus”!
